Kubuntu 22.04 with Legacy Oxygen Theme

Kubuntu 22.04 with Legacy Oxygen Theme

This tutorial will help you using silver, metallic theme “Oxygen” that was popular in the era of KDE 4 on the modern Kubuntu 22.04 “Jammy Jellyfish”. In short, we will use Elarun as wallpaper and Oxygen as the rest of the whole themes including application style, colors, icons, Plasma style, and splash screen. All in all, we want to offer the best visual experience we had in the past to new generation of Kubuntu users as well as the long time users themselves especially those who appreciate nostalgia. Finally, we hope you will enjoy this!

Run Konsole and type command line below followed by Enter:

$ sudo apt-get install kwin-decoration-oxygen oxygen-icon-theme oxygen-sounds

Pro Tip!

Didn’t know how to use command lines yet? Read our tutorial “Jewel and Pearl” and learn it little by little. Good luck!

Run System Settings -> Appearance -> all configurations will be centered here.

Still on the System Settings: go to Appearance -> Application Style -> Oxygen -> Apply.

Next, go to Plasma Style -> Air -> Apply.

Next, go to Colors -> Oxygen -> Apply.

Next, go to Window Decoration -> Oxygen -> Apply.

Next, go to Icons -> Oxygen -> Apply.

Next, go to Cursors -> Oxygen White -> Apply.

Then, go to Launch Feedback -> Bouncing -> Apply.

Next, go to Splash Screen -> Get New Splash Screen -> search for “oxygen” -> find “KDE SC 4 Splash Screen for Plasma 5 and 6” by harole -> Install -> select Elarun from many choices -> installed -> close the Download window -> select Elarun -> Apply.
